Terms and Conditions

1. Carriage of Passengers
PRJ may refuse to carry passengers:
  • Who have not paid the applicable fare;
  • Whose conduct is objectionable (such as, but not limited to, being under the influence of alcohol or narcotics);
  • Who pose a health, safety or security hazard to other passengers or employees;
  • Who refuse to comply with safety or security rules or with instructions of Amtrak or PRJ personnel;
  • Who refuse to consent to Amtrak or PRJ security inspections of persons and/or baggage onboard PRJ trains and/or at designated areas, such as train platforms and passenger boarding or waiting areas.
PRJ employees or other authorized carrier representatives may remove such a passenger from the train at any inhabited place, as necessary under the circumstances, for any of the above reasons.
2. Pets
We allow trained service animals accompanying passengers with disabilities in all customer passenger areas of our trains.
Trained service animals must be kept under the control of their owners or trainers at all times.
We permit no other animals onboard at any time.
3. Force Majure
PRJ may, in the event of a force majeure event, without notice, cancel, terminate, divert, postpone or delay any train or the right of carriage without liability except to issue a refund. The refund will be made in the original form of payment in accordance with refund rules for any unused portion of the ticket.
Force Majeure Event means:
  • Any condition beyond PRJ's control including, but without limitation, meteorological conditions, acts of nature, riots, civil commotion, embargoes, wars, hostilities, or disturbances - actual, threatened, or reported. Also, because of any delay, demand, circumstances or requirement due, directly or indirectly to such conditions, or
  • Any strike, work stoppage, slowdown, lockout or any other labor related dispute involving or affecting Amtrak's services, or
  • Any government regulation, demand or requirement, or
  • Any shortage of labor, fuel or facilities of PRJ, Amtrak or others, or
  • Any fact not reasonably foreseen, anticipated or predicted by PRJ, including but not limited to service disruptions on Amtrak.
4. Limitation of Liability
PRJ's fares, time schedules, equipment, routing, services and information (hereinafter "PRJ services") are not guaranteed and are provided "as is" without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied, and PRJ disclaims all warranties, express or implied. Applicable law may not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so the above exclusions may not apply to you.
PRJ further specifically disclaims liability for any inconvenience, expense, or damages, incidental, consequential, punitive, lost profits, loss business or otherwise, resulting from errors in its timetable, shortages of equipment, or due to delayed trains. Some states may not allow the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
PRJ also disclaims any liability for the products and/or services of PRJ's advertisers, business partners, sponsors, suppliers, licensors and agents to the extent permissible under the law and PRJ shall only be responsible for the rail transportation services that it provides.
PRJ reserves the right to change its policies without notice.
5. Governing Law
All travel on, and transactions with, PRJ is governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regards to its principles of conflicts of law. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of any Federal court located in the State of Illinois, and waive any jurisdictional, venue or inconvenient forum objections to such courts.
